According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming of the Paramount+ live-streaming series "Star Trek: Picard" was halted on Monday after more than 50 crew members tested positive for the coronavirus. The report did not specify whether these crew members had been vaccinated before being infected. According to unnamed sources, Monday was the first day of work for the crew after winter break, but filming was immediately stopped. Star Trek: Picard is one of the largest productions on Paramount+, with a crew of more than 450 people. CBS Studios declined to comment. Although The Hollywood Reporter said that filming could resume as early as next week, specific details have not been confirmed. The announcement comes amid other coronavirus-related news in the entertainment industry, including the cancellation of the Grammy Awards and other events like the Sundance Film Festival moving online. Star Trek: Picard was renewed for a third season last year, and the second season will premiere on Paramount+ in February. The show tells the story of retired Jean-Luc Picard, who is haunted by the shadows left over from his previous life. Star Trek: Picard was created by Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon, Kirsten Beyer and Alex Kurtzman. |
