Hollywood star Hugh Jackman is still flexing his muscles in front of the camera at the age of 55. He recently talked about how difficult it is to gain muscle every time he appears as the X-Men character Wolverine, and that all the deadlifts are meaningless if the light doesn't hit every curve of his muscles just right. So he recently thanked the crew of Deadpool vs. Wolverine for keeping him in good shape. "I'm grateful," Hugh Jackman posted on social media yesterday, along with a three-minute audio log in which he talked about how great it was to work with everyone on this summer's comic book movie box office hit, but gave special thanks to the crew, especially his makeup artists, who worked tirelessly to make the character of Wolverine look as beefy and shiny as possible. "Honestly, I just want to take a moment to say, yeah, I have to do those deadlifts and eat that food, but I have an amazing team helping me," Jackman said, specifically mentioning his trainer Beth Lewis and his makeup artist Whitney James. "She comes over and applies, I don't even know what it is, some kind of oil, and makes my skin glow," the actor continued. "You'd hear (director) Shawn Levy yelling 'Put fresh lube on Hugh!'" Jackman has gotten leaner with each appearance as the self-healing mutant, and he's been on record talking about how the hardest part of each buildup was actually just trying to get enough food down his throat so he could keep adding more muscle mass. Hopefully, this is the last time he puts his body through this, lube and all. If he ever returns as Wolverine again sometime in the future, maybe he can be a retired Logan, reading a book and drinking a beer on the beach. |
