Paramount to create new "Star Trek" directed by "WandaVision" director

Foreign media reported that Paramount plans to start filming a new "Star Trek" movie next spring, and the film has recently officially decided on director Matt Shakman. Matt Shakman's major works include "The Cliffhanger" and "The Edge of Life", and his "WandaVision" has just been nominated for this year's Emmy Award for Best Limited Series.

Star Trek is one of the most famous science fiction film and television series in the world. It is produced by Paramount Pictures and currently has 6 TV series, 1 animation and 13 movies. After the release of Star Trek Beyond in 2016, there has been no new film in the Star Trek series. It is worth mentioning that a Star Trek movie has been scheduled to be released in North America on June 9, 2023. The new film directed by Matt Shakman should be released in this schedule. It is not yet known whether Chris Pine will return to lead the original crew.
