MCU feels too loose now? Kevin Feige: It's not easy to deal with the multiverse

With just one week to go until the release of Deadpool vs. Wolverine, Deadpool will officially join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the fate of some other X-Men characters is still unclear. The film brings together multiple characters from the X-Men film series from 20th Century Fox (now 20th Century Pictures, due to its acquisition by Disney). Dealing with the multiverse problem is never easy, so what about the characters who are already active in the Marvel Universe?

During the Deadpool vs. Wolverine press conference, Kevin Feige was interviewed about whether fans should continue to look forward to and prepare for the continuation of projects like The Eternals and Moon Knight - Marvel movies and series that are more standalone than past films.

“That’s really at the heart of the last 85 years of comics being published and 15-plus years of movies being released,” Feige said. “I think for a while, there was a very rapid cadence of characters coming to each other, like Iron Man was introduced in the May 2008 movie and then he was in the July of the same year movie. But then there were actors like Tim Blake Nelson, who was in that 2008 movie as well, but didn’t appear again until the trailer that we just released. So, again, that’s about the fun that we’re able to have.”

16 years on, the foreshadowing of Nelson's Hulk villain Big Boss has yet to pay off. While he does return in Captain America: New World Order, we still haven't seen Samuel Sterns' full transformation, which has kept fans wondering if he will actually be introduced.

Fans will still have to wait until February to see the severed hand of Sterns and the Celestials in The Eternals, which may also appear in Captain America: A New World Order, while the ultimate fate of the former Fox character will be revealed in Deadpool vs. Wolverine.
