According to Maoyan data, the box office revenue of theaters in low-risk areas across the country in the first three days of resumption of work (July 20-22) exceeded 13.7 million yuan - 3.502 million yuan on the 20th, 4.561 million yuan on the 21st, and 5.625 million yuan on the 22nd. More than 2,000 theaters have resumed work nationwide, of which about 80 have daily box office revenues exceeding 10,000 yuan. In terms of regions, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Qinghai, and Shandong are the top five in the country in terms of theater resumption rates.

As the number of theaters that have resumed work increases and the number of screenings increases, the box office has gradually increased. Among the re-screenings of old films, "The Accidental Murderer" won the daily championship for two consecutive days on the 21st and 22nd, and its box office performance was far ahead; Pixar's animated film "Coco" counterattacked and became the second place from the third day, with a single-day box office of 900,000. The new film "The First Separation" fell from the first place to the third place, with a single-day box office of 610,000. Other popular movies include "The Sound of the Wind", "Nezha", "Wolf Warrior 2", "White Snake: Origin", "Big Fish and Begonia", "Charlotte's Troubles", "The Mermaid", "Time Raiders", etc.

Starting from July 24, cinemas in Beijing, the second largest box office city in China, will resume operations. New and old movies such as "Bloodshot", "Dumbo", "A Chinese Odyssey Part Two: Pandora's Box", "A Chinese Odyssey Part Three: Cinema", "Capernaum", "Zootopia", "A Dog's Purpose 2" and "Animal Secret Service" will be released.

As the market slowly recovers, many cinemas say they are still losing money despite reopening due to the lack of pre-screening advertising and popcorn and cola revenue. Many cinema operators and film producers are calling for the gradual lifting of the "30% occupancy rate" limit.
