The producer of the TV series "The Witcher" said: Ciri was once considered an important protagonist

Yesterday (December 9), we reported that "CDPR wants Ciri to be the protagonist in the new "The Witcher" game." Today, Netflix's "The Witcher" TV series official also talked about a very similar issue. Producer Lauren Hissrich also said: Ciri was once an important protagonist of the TV series, and the plot was also centered around Ciri.

Producer Lauren Hissrich said: "When I first took over the TV series "The Witcher", I wrote a completely different version of the script. Before that, I had never mentioned this different version of the story. The original script referred to the original novel of "The Witcher" (from the second to the last part), and the fifth part "Beauty of the Lake" was an important basis for the script. In the original version of the script, Ciri will be the core character of the world of "The Witcher".

“When I started writing the script, I found that I didn’t know enough about Geralt and his position, because I had been narrating the entire plot of The Witcher from Ciri’s perspective. I thought about it for a while and finally came up with several different scripts.”

In the end, producer Lauren Hissrich found a more balanced approach to give the three protagonists, Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri, the opportunities they deserve. She referred to the relevant content of the first "The Last Wish" and the second "Sword of Destiny" novels of The Witcher, and also adopted Netflix's unique techniques to present these characters to fans and audience friends in a better way.

The Witcher TV series will be launched on December 20, 2019, with a total of 8 episodes in the first season. Henry Cavill will play the demon hunter "White Wolf" Geralt, Anya Chalotra will play Yennefer, and Freya Allan will play Ciri. Stay tuned.
