"Tron: God of War" will continue the classic series and the original protagonist actors will return again

As the third film in the classic sci-fi film "Tron" series that began in 1982, "Tron: God of War" was announced to be an independent sequel and the next chapter of the series. However, it seems that this film will have more connections with previous works including "Tron: God of War". Jeff Bridges, the famous actor who played the protagonist Kevin Flynn in the first film, has confirmed that he will return to play this role.

"I'm leaving this Saturday to do the third part of the TRON story. I'm really excited about it. It's crazy. Jared Leto is the star of the third movie and I'm really eager to work with him and I admire his work," Bridges said during an appearance on his Point Supply Reviews podcast, according to The Playlist.

Jared Leto will play the "God of War/Ares" in the title. Currently, other characters have not been revealed. Recently, another co-star, Cameron Monaghan, the protagonist of the game "Star Wars Jedi", praised the progress of the sequel in visual effects. Bridges also mentioned this, but he said that "Tron: War God" will be more inclined to use live/actual special effects scenes rather than virtual scenes. “I’m really excited to see what this technology brings,” he said. “I’ve heard there’s less AI involved and it’s going to be a more practical scenario, and they’re beautiful; I’ve seen some beautiful scenarios.”

TRON: God of War is directed by Joachim Rønning and is expected to be released in theaters on October 10, 2025.
