According to domestic media reports, the DC superhero movie "Aquaman", which was released two weeks ahead of North America, made its debut in mainland China yesterday. The box office exceeded 153 million on the first day, and it won the single-day box office championship without any suspense.

Including the box office of the midnight show, as of yesterday, the cumulative box office of "Aquaman" reached 162 million yuan (the cumulative box office of "Aquaman" has now exceeded 200 million yuan).

In the mainland of the DC movie universe, Aquaman's first-day box office surpassed the 121 million yuan (excluding e-commerce service fees) of Batman v Superman in 2016, creating the strongest opening performance for a DC movie in mainland China.

Among the superhero movies released in mainland China this year, Avengers: Infinity War earned 387 million yuan on its first day, Venom earned 223 million yuan on its first day, Ant-Man 2 earned 154 million yuan on its first day, and Black Panther earned 131 million yuan on its first day. In comparison, Aquaman’s first-day box office performance is closest to Ant-Man 2. Ant-Man 2 earned 831 million yuan in total, and Aquaman’s total box office in mainland China is also expected to start at 800 million yuan.
