Nicholas Tse, Jackie Chan, Daniel Wu, Charlene Choi and other original cast members will return. Jackie Chan encouraged Nicholas Tse to be the director and he himself will serve as the producer. The director of "New Police Story", Chen Musheng, died of nasopharyngeal cancer in August 2020 at the age of 58.
