Netflix's 2021 drama "Squidward" became a hit. Now, Netflix has launched a spin-off reality show "Squidward: The Challenge". Although in theory the conditions of reality shows are not as harsh as those of TV series, some contestants revealed that the shooting environment of reality shows is very unsafe and the results of the games are also predetermined. "Squidward: The Challenge" offers a huge prize of $4.56 million to 456 challengers. Although contestants will experience the same challenges as the TV series "Squidward: The Challenge" in the 10-episode reality show, Netflix told the audience that "the worst result is to go home empty-handed." But according to multiple interviewees, the conditions for shooting reality shows are brutal, and that’s a huge understatement. According to interviewees, free participants often play games in sub-zero temperatures and under extremely tiring conditions. They have to get up at 3:30 a.m. and continue shooting for 9 hours. They cannot move during the high-intensity game process. During the first day of filming, at least 10 participants collapsed. Medical personnel were frequently called to the filming site, and one contestant even described the filming site as a battlefield. Contestant Marlene told the media: "When the song was played for the second time, I saw a girl on the left staggering. Then she collapsed to the ground, and I even heard the sound of her head hitting the ground. As a result, someone shouted for everyone to stay where they were, because the game was not paused. After that, people fell one after another like flies." Some contestants also believed that the game results were manipulated and that the advancement of some popular contestants was pre-arranged. Two other contestants told the interviewer that Netflix had booked their return tickets long before the game started, and the flight time was exactly when they were eliminated. The contestant revealed: "This is not a reality show at all, it's just a TV show, and we are just an extra in the TV show." |
