In the highly publicized Depp defamation case, entertainment consultant Katherine Arnold testified that Depp's ex-wife Amber Heard was almost fired from the "Aquaman 2" crew by Warner Bros. due to the negative coverage of the case. Fortunately, director James Wan and lead actor Jason Momoa fought hard to keep her. Previously, Heard claimed that a large part of her scenes in "Aquaman 2" were deleted. According to Arnold, Warner Bros. was ready to fire Heard to get rid of any negative publicity associated with the ongoing case. However, Warner Bros. CEO Walter Hamada said that was not actually the case . "They don't have a lot of chemistry together," Hamada said, according to THR. "The reality is, the two leads of the movie don't have chemistry. It's a kind of movie magic and editing -- the ability to combine the performances with great musical magic, how you put the pieces together, that you can create that chemistry." Hamada said the lack of chemistry was the real reason why Warners decided to consider firing Heard. "When you watch the movie, it looks like they have great chemistry. But what I understand is that through post-production, a lot of effort went into making that happen. Sometimes you just have to put characters together and they react. It's like what makes movie stars movie stars. You know it when you see it. They didn't have chemistry... and this one was even harder because they didn't have chemistry." When asked if Heard's role was ever "reduced," Hamada confirmed that was not the case. Hamada explained that Aquaman 2 has always been a "bro comedy" between Aquaman and his brother King Orm, "and that's how it has been since the beginning." |
