Spider-Madame cast updated with black actress Celeste joining

Today (May 25), Sony announced that black actress Celeste O'Connor ("The Ghostbusters") will join the new comic book superhero film "Spider-Madame". It is not yet known which role she will play.

Spider-Madame is the first female-led superhero movie in Sony's Marvel Universe. Directed by S.J. Clarkson, written by Matt Sazma & Burke Sharpless, starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney, it is scheduled to be released in North America on July 7, 2023.

In the comic book "Mrs. Spider", Mrs. Spider's real name is Cassandra Webber. She is a paralyzed blind person with limited mobility and difficulty breathing. She survives on a system that looks like a spider web. She has the ability to predict and telepathically sense. She asked Spider-Man to help her find a magical weapon to cure her disease, and it cured her disease and turned her back to youth. The movie version of "Mrs. Spider" may adapt this setting. She has a close relationship with the "multiverse" and may also be an important figure in opening up multiple universes.
