Venom's global success means it will be harder for Spider-Man to return to Marvel

According to foreign media reports, although the superhero movie "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" co-produced by Sony and Marvel has not received good reviews, it has already earned more than 500 million US dollars in box office worldwide, which also means that Spider-Man may focus more on his own movie universe in the future.

What does this mean for the Spider-Man franchise? According to foreign media box office analysts, the success of Venom will allow Sony to hold on to Spider-Man even tighter. "If this move fails, Sony will definitely be willing to negotiate with Disney, but now that possibility no longer exists. Sony took a big risk with Venom before, and now it seems that it will be made into a series of movies.

At this point, Disney's need for Spider-Man is greater than Sony's need for Disney...If Sony continues to make movies that audiences want to see, Disney may have to buy Sony to get Spider-Man back."

"This is also the beginning of Sony's journey to regain the dignity of a major studio, and they will not go down without a fight."

"Venom" is directed by Ruben Fleischer ("Zombieland") and stars Tom Holland, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Woody Harrelson and Reid Scott. It will be released in mainland China this Friday.

Note: The film rights of "Spider-Man" and "Venom" were sold to Sony by Marvel in the early years. In recent years, due to the cooperation with Marvel Studios, the character of "Spider-Man" can appear in Marvel Studios' movies (such as "Captain America 3: Civil War" and "Avengers 3", etc.), but independent films such as "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" still belong to Sony itself.
