Hideo Kojima praises Netflix's "Blue Eyes Samurai": the best animation of the year!

The new anime series "Blue Eyed Samurai" from the streaming platform Netflix has won the Hideo Kojima Grand Prize.

Kojima called the show "the best anime of the year" on Twitter, saying he believes creators Michael Green and Amber Noizumi must have seen what Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and League of Legends: Battle of Two Cities did for the medium of animation and improved on it.

Kojima praised: "All of them are great! All of them are beautiful! Without a doubt, the best animation of the year! This is a work whose visuals transcend common sense in animation."

The story of "Blue Eyed Samurai" is set in the Edo period of Japan in the 17th century. The protagonist is a half-blood samurai Mizu who has unique sword skills. He embarks on a bloody journey of revenge against four enemies. The voice actors of the series include Maya Erskine, Hiroyuki Tagawa, Masu Oka, Darren Barnett, George Takei, Brenda Song, etc.
