Netflix has recently renewed its eponymous series based on Neil Gaiman's visual novel The Sandman. According to DEADLINE , despite various conflicting reports surfacing online, the streaming service does in fact want to continue with the series. The first season of "Sandman" was launched in early August. In the first week, the audience watched a total of 69.5 million hours. In the second week, the audience watched 127.5 million hours, 77.2 million hours in the third week, and 53.8 million hours in the fourth week. The renewal confirmation comes after the official DC Comics Twitter page accidentally leaked it on Wednesday. The since-deleted tweet read: "The Dream Continues. New series based on the multi-volume Neil Gaiman visual novel The Sandman will return to explore more of the Neverending Story." Later, there were rumors that the series was cancelled, and Gaiman himself pointed out that this was spread by a fake account. Just today (November 3), Gaiman himself confirmed the renewal news and released a preview of the second season. Gaiman tweeted: "The rumors were true. Netflix is delighted that many of you have been watching The Sandman, and that what we all hoped would happen... did happen..." Preview:Netflix declined to respond to DEADLINE's questions about the new series' cast and details. However, it is certain that Tom Sturridge will continue to play the role of the Sandman - Morpheus. And Gaiman himself will continue to participate in the production of the second season. |
