Michael Caine, the actor who is favored by Nolan, announces his retirement and becomes a writer

88-year-old British actor Michael Caine has announced his retirement from acting. "Best Sellers," which will be released in Canada on September 17, will be his last film.

"The Best Salesman" tells the story of an ambitious young editor (Plaza) and a writer (Kane) who staged a wild book tour in order to save a boutique publishing house. In the film, Kane plays a writer who, coincidentally, has become a writer in real life and has published several books. As an actor, he has to get up at 6:30 in the morning to go to the studio; as a writer, he doesn't need to leave his bed to start writing.

Kane explained his retirement in an interview with the BBC, which included physical (spinal problems affect walking) and other factors. In fact, he has not worked for two years because no one sincerely invites him, and there is no script he wants to shoot. Most scripts do not have an 88-year-old male lead (There's not exactly scripts pouring out with a leading man that's 88).

Sir Michael Caine is well known to Chinese audiences as Nolan's "special actor". He has starred in Nolan's The Prestige, Batman trilogy, Inception, Interstellar and Tenet. But before Nolan, he was already a well-known British movie star, with representative works such as Teaching Rita (1983), Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) and The Cider House Rules (1999). In 2000, Queen Elizabeth II knighted him. Sir Caine has won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor twice and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award of the European Film Award (EFA) in 2015.
