Netflix's The Witcher series producer: Season 3 has not been officially renewed

Netflix's The Witcher season 2 won't officially air for another four months, but fans of the show are already wondering if there will be more to the series. At the moment, the answer is still unknown, but showrunner Lauren SchmidtHissrich revealed that the show has not been renewed for a third season.

At the TCA Summer Press Tour, Hissrich was asked if there would be a third season of The Witcher. She said: "There has been no official renewal yet, and in fact, my focus right now is on season two. We have a broadcast date; it officially airs on December 17th. There is a lot of work to be done on post-production. So I am traveling back and forth between Los Angeles and London to do that work. Honestly, that is where our focus is right now, because if we hope to get a third season, we need season two to be good enough."

Earlier in the day, Netflix announced a new creative partnership between Hissrich and Netflix, which will see Hersrich write and produce TV series for the streaming service. She will continue to work on The Witcher series, while also serving as an executive producer on The Witcher: Bloodlines and The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

“I’m thrilled to have found a home at Netflix and can’t wait to continue this incredible creative partnership,” Hissrich said in a press release. “While my heart belongs to The Witcher franchise, I’m equally looking forward to unearthing other exciting projects for audiences around the world in the years ahead.”

While a release date for The Witcher Season 3 has yet to be announced, working with Hissrich at Netflix is ​​very promising for the show’s future. It may only be a matter of time before Netflix greenlights another season.
