According to foreign media Hollywood Reporter, the new "Batman" starring Robert Pattinson uses the same Unreal Engine LED wall special effects production technology as the TV series "The Mandalorian" and the live-action version of "The Lion King". Rob Bredow, chief creative officer of Industrial Light & Magic, the special effects producer of the new Batman, revealed the news and said that the production team of the new Batman "pre-built an Unreal Engine installation in the UK and installed an LED wall built around the movie scenes so that Unreal Engine could be used to create virtual special effects in these specific scenes." For the first season of The Mandalorian, director Jon Favreau worked with Industrial Light & Magic to create an LED wall powered by the Unreal game engine that enabled real-time visual effects production while scenes were being filmed. The crew of The Mandalorian built a 75-foot diameter, 20-foot high, 270-degree circular LED TV wall, plus an LED ceiling, combining physical shooting props with digital backgrounds to create detailed backgrounds and lighting effects, greatly simplifying the shooting and production process and making the lighting effects more realistic. Industrial Light & Magic will implement the production of 3D scenes during the shooting process, and what makes all this possible is the real-time rendering technology used in games, namely the Unreal Engine and NVIDIA GPU. "The Batman" will be released in the United States on March 4, 2022. |
