Paramount+'s Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 to be aired next year

The main producer of the American TV series "Star Trek: Discovery" recently released an announcement stating that the fifth season of the series, which will also be the final season, will be broadcast and completed in 2024.

In a joint statement, showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise said: “There’s so much more adventure left in Season 5 — but today we’re sharing some bittersweet news: After 65 episodes of incredible adventures with Captain Bernard and the crew of the USS Discovery, next season, airing in early 2024, will be our last. All good things must come to an end, and that day will come. We are forever grateful to have shared this amazing journey with you.”

The series premiered in 2017 and follows the crew of the starship Discovery on an adventure across time, space and dimensions. The series first aired on the CBS All Access streaming service and was later transferred to Paramount+. Among them, the classic "Star Trek" Captain Christopher Pike, played by Anson Mount, was so popular that a spin-off series "Star Trek: Strange Worlds" was launched.

"There's still a lot of work to do to finish Season 5, and we're so excited for you to see the finale that we're all so excited and satisfied with," the statement concluded. "We're also planning some very special fan events in the coming months so we can all celebrate Discovery and its incredible cast together. More details will be announced soon, including the premiere date for Season 5."
