'Sherlock Holmes' Director Guy Ritchie to Direct 'Young Sherlock' Series

Production company Amazon MGM Studios has announced the executive producers and directors of the streaming service’s new series Young Sherlock.

Guy Ritchie, who directed the much-loved Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, is set to direct another adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes novel. Actor Hero Fiennes-Tiffin has confirmed his participation in the film.

The new series is not related to the 1985 film of the same name from director Barry Levinson, but is based on the Young Sherlock Holmes novels by Andy Lane.

"In Young Sherlock, we're introducing an exciting new version of the detective everyone thought they knew, in ways never imagined before," Ritchie said in a statement. "We're unravelling this mysterious character, finding out what drives him and learning how he became the genius everyone loves."

Fiennes-Tiffin earlier starred in Guy Ritchie's dark action comedy "The Commandos". He also played the young Voldemort (Tom Riddle) in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" - his uncle is Voldemort's actor Ralph Fiennes.
