Previously, we reported that "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron" was postponed indefinitely because director Patty Jenkin was too busy. Recently, former Hollywood Reporter editor-in-chief Matthew Belloni revealed that the film was postponed not because the director was too busy but because of a conflict in creative ideas between the director and the studio. Belloni said that the script given by director Patty Jenkin caused controversy within Lucasfilm. Belloni specifically pointed out that this was not the first time this had happened to Lucasfilm. Lucasfilm had invited David Benioff and Dan Weiss from the "Game of Thrones" crew to create a new trilogy and invited Rian Johnson, the screenwriter and director of "The Last Jedi", to create a trilogy. These projects were shelved for the same reason. Belloni believes that Lucasfilm's corporate management is not suitable for Patty Jenkin, so she decided to focus on other projects such as "Wonder Woman 3". The "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron" movie was originally scheduled to start filming next year and will be released on December 22, 2023. |
