The animated film "5 Centimeters per Second" directed by Makoto Shinkai has announced that it will be filmed as a live-action movie, with Kitado Matsumura, a member of the idol boy group SixTONES, as the starring role (he once voiced Sota Munakata in "Suzuya's Journey"), directed by Yoshiyuki Okuyama, and written by Fumiko Suzuki. It will be released in Japan next fall. The original work of "5 Centimeters per Second" tells the story of a pair of childhood sweethearts who are separated by a move. The long-distance love makes them decide to meet again. The style is exquisite and beautiful, and the duration is 63 minutes. The live-action movie will be made into a long work of about 2 hours. Makoto Shinkai left a message: "The animated film 5 Centimeters per Second, which I directed nearly 20 years ago, was a very immature and unfinished work. However, it is precisely because of its unfinished nature that it is still loved by everyone. The kind of film that was made based solely on the initial impulse - the longing and fear for the unknown, I can no longer create or even replicate it now. So, when Director Okuyama and a group of young and enthusiastic teams faced 5 Centimeters per Second again, I was very excited. The actor I trust most, Kitado Matsumura, will play the leading role, which also makes me feel the wonder of life. Please make sure to make a movie that only you can complete now. I look forward to the completion of this work more than anyone else and will fully support you." In February 2017, it was reported online that 5 Centimeters Per Second would be remade into a live-action movie in the mainland, sparking a heated discussion. It is reported that the remake will be directed by Dong Zijian, starring Lu Han and Zhou Dongyu, produced by Stanley Kwan, and written by Zou Li. |
